Tiger’s Nest Monastery

This photograph is an iconic view representing the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan.  On our last full day in Bhutan, I will be attempting to hike up 3,000 ft to reach the monastery, where the altitude is above 9,800 feet.  I’m so excited to see this sacred Buddhist site, built in 1692.  Buddhism was brought to Bhutan by Guru Rinpoche, who meditated at this site for 3 years, 3 months, 3 weeks, 3 days, and 3 hours, starting in  747 AD.

To clarify - This was posted before my trip.  Just trying it out, and sharing my excitement!
